Microdermabrasion Training

Despite microdermabrasion treatments being one of the most popular aesthetic treatments that is suitable for most skins, only a small percentage of clinics offer this treatment to their patients. Bristol Beauty Aesthetic Training Courses offers high quality microdermabrasion training designed for practitioners who wish to offer an extended service to their patients.

Microdermabrasion is a mechanical method of exfoliating the skin. This is a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation. It works by using a superior vacuum and a specially designed hand piece to exfoliate the layers of the stratum corneum using aluminium oxide crystals. The fine micro-particles being blasted across the face by a kind of skin vacuum cleaner to help improve the texture and appearance of the skin. The powder used varies and can include crystals of aluminum salts, sodium bicarbonate, or sodium chloride. There are two different machines crystal microdermabrasion and diamond tip microdermabrasion.

It is a non -invasive mild treatment causing minimal damage and designed to improve the overall texture, tone and clarity of the skin. The combination of skin exfoliation and vacuum stimulates the fibroblasts to produce new and healthy cells in the basal layer of the epidermis.  This leads to cell turnover, an improved blood flow and skin rejuvenation. The microdermabrasion will smooth out the skin leaving it fresh and regenerating new skin cells. The process also encourages the production of collagen and helps treat early signs of aging. You can offer this as a microdermabrasion treatment or with other skin care enhancing products that are added to a clinical facial routine. This pain free procedure can be combined with other skin rejuvenating treatments such Chemical peels, Micro-needling and LED mask. Bristol Beauty aesthetics offer all these courses.

The Microdermabrasion machine was originally designed as a skin pigmentation treatment and can therefore vastly improve the appearance of facial pigmentation and skin blemishes. Although now the machine is used as a treatment for so many skin complaints dull, uneven skin, breakouts, blotches, acne scaring, larger pores and effective anti-wrinkle, pigmentation and age spots. Removing the skin will help of the new, fresh skin and giving a radiant glow and increasing the collagen produced by our ageing skin. Normally skin renews itself approximately every 28 days.

You will learn to perform competent safe techniques with a sequence of movements using the electrical machine. Microdermabrasion is a quick and safe treatment which doesn’t involve any surgery.

Microdermabrasion can be also an effective option for improving the appearance of stretch marks and some other scars on the skin.

It is a mild treatment causing minimal damage to the surface of the skin and therefore results are subtle and include a freshening in the appearance and improvement in the texture of the skin, and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles. The treatment is usually painless and doesn’t irritate the skin greatly. Private costs for microdermabrasion treatment can be in the range of £40 to £80 per session. This procedure can be repeated every week or so for a series of 5 to 10 sessions. You can offer maintenance treatments can then be scheduled every three or four months.

The theory will then be followed by a demonstration performed by our lecturer, all delegates will have the opportunity to perform a treatment on a client. We can supply a model for all delegates, however sometimes we may ask delegates if they would like to experience the treatment themselves on the training day. This helps give a further insight into the treatment, allowing you manage client expectations.

You will have the understanding knowledge of the treatment procedure. A medical history should be taken by yourself for each individual patient, to ensure that there are no reasons why they shouldn’t have the treatment, and every patient would normally be asked to sign a consent form at this time which means that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated with microdermabrasion. Photographic evidence, as a “before and after” comparison will be needed for the assessments, it is always a recommendation for a practitioner to keep each treatment on record.

The skin is cleaned prior to treatment, the wand of the microdermabrasion machine is passed over the skin in smooth, stroking movements. The intensity (or pressure at which the crystals hit your skin) of treatment can be varied, either by altering the amount of crystals used, the pressure used, or the length of treatment.

Crystals are directed onto the face and then immediately “vacuumed “away, along with the loosened skin particles. All the waste goes into a separate, closed container to make sure that there is no risk of contamination from dead skin products. A practitioner should NEVER reuse the crystals, they are disposed of correctly.

Should you have any questions or queries once you have introduced the treatment at your own clinic, we are always on hand to offer advice. You can contact us via phone or email and we will be in touch to help. You will need to complete and send five more assessments on completion of the qualification of Microdermabrasion course.
